Some of you guys probably heard of this :

That made me think that there's a lot of computing resources
out there on the net... The Seti ppl understood it early when
launching their screensaver program...
On a smaller scale, I'm sure there's a possibility to use the
computing resources of the members of this list to run some
distributed screensaver / app running genetic algorithms to
improve existing analog electronic designs and/or to imagine
new ones...
I remember a couple of years ago reading some articles about
such GA techniques used in some other fields (like improving
cranes by 20%)...
I bet we're all too busy at work (or looking for a job) to
undertake something like that.
But for someone looking for ideas for a PhD in engeneering
for instance, or anything similar, it could be a subject of
choice...
