I play bass through a synthesized effects system. - Everything but the keyboard
and a keyboard controlled VCO. I started with some good JBL wide range stereo
speakers. I went with an 18 inch cabinet to get the power handeling and total
mass of air moved.
Musicians go with a 4 X 10 or a 4 X 12 because they are shallower, easier to
move, and require less power. The only thing better than a 18 inch cabinet is a
24 or a 32! But these require a van to move.
The other problem with an 18 inch cab is you need another speaker for the
articulation. 18s aren't good for much above 1000 Hz (or less).
