"Time Variant" made a lot of sense at the time.
One of the D-50's main features (overlooked because
it also had short sample ROM and onboard effects)
was a digital filter that could be modulated in real 
time. Thus "time variant". I don't know if they were
the first to do it, but probably the first in
an _affordable_ synth.
