The virtual GND is created by the opamp. The diodes are to clamp the 
signal when the switch is off. They are essentially out of the circuit 
when the switch is on. Nothing specific is needed from the diodes. So 
1N4148 or the like can be used.

If one adds Steves suggestion of shorting to GND with a second switch, 
then they wouldn't even be needed, because the second switch would be 
doing what the diodes do now.
