[sdiy] semi ot: electrolytics / bomb ?

I have done the high resistance thing on old 'lytics. It was quite a while ago.
My guess is that I used whatever was handy, most likely a 5v supply.

On a related note, if I turn on a piece of electronic equipmet that has not been
used in many years, I power it up for about 1 second and then wait for 15
seconds before turning it on and leaving it on.
