You want a TDM base. MADI might work for sound. You want to stay of that packet
shit all you can, it will pull you down into the dirth.

Personally I would use DTM, but I am kind of biased I guess (just *guess* what
I have spent the last 6 years of work on). In DTM we mix sample based stuff and
packet stuff and it just works. No nifty boxes to hang on the back of a synth
though, not yeat, but you could use the same principles for such a system.
Putting DTM to work on musically oriented stuff would be a simple matter.
Running slower speeds is too not a problem.
