Looking at the schematic the interface _is_ digital: which key is 'pressed'
is coded as a binary value and then passed across a tri-state interface,
which is presumably where you can hook up several synths together (this
doesn't appear to be shown explicitly on the schematic). From there the
value is 'decoded' and the frequency of the master oscillator divided by the
appropriate amount to give the desired note. It would be possible to build a
converter to take MIDI and interface directly onto the tri-state bus, which
is presumably what Kenton have done.

...I think this may mean that going with something like what Kenton make is
probably the quickest option (unless you are prepared to spend time and
effort and delve deeply into it...). It appears to be the 'Prokadi', and
costs about £125 - look at the manual here and it says a little about the
Wasp and its limitations, and shows the 'interface':
