But just to be sure: 
If I have a "1/4 inch UNEF" thread (without further specifications),
does this imply that it has these 32 threads per inch, or are there
othere variations of 1/4 UNEF ?

(Asuming that your example 1/4-20 isn't UNEF, but something else)
