[sdiy] OT: The best ways to silence a PC?

I've used two methods...
1) Remote the power supply (desktop) from another room, using a special
long cable. I did not use a harddrive in this case.
2) a purpose-built computer with a 1.44M "Removable Hard Drive"
(aka a floppy drive)... an EL panel display (no mag fields / high
voltage noise)
and a power supply with no fans. Its DEAD quiet...
