I think, the truth lays in between (as so often):
As far as I know they do not solder on their own; but I know, that they
have helping hands, who implement the stuff finally, that they plan and
develop basically. There is one guy, who's name I forgot, who does the most
of this gear. Then there is Sebastian Niessen. And - attention I'm gonna
say jehova - a lot of stuff that is/was produced by D.Doepfer bases on
their concepts; Doepfer also built some boxes for them, which never went
into mass production (to jbv: So the "In 97 they were just representatives
for Doepfer gear" in fact means, that they had found a commercial producer,
who built a lot of gear, that corresponded to their ideas).
