[sdiy] reasons for Forum

some e-mail programs let you define rules for auto-move of messages
with e.g. certain headers to some folder you prescribe.
This way I direct the sdiy mail stream into one specific
mail folder.
So this prevents me from mixing it up with other mail.
This has never failed so far.

some e-mail programs let you order the mails related to the subject line.
So you can sort out threads.
Most people on this list try to give a meaningfull subject line.
Sometimes it would be better if they give a new subject line
if the topic changes during the discussion.

So, after vacation I may have some 100 mails to scan, perhaps 500.
I usually need 1 hour to do this. After 1s I can assume if the
mail is important or not. I don't think that I loose
much of the important stuff.
Perhaps some extra rules could be written, so that more sorting can be done
automatically.

Also, the real important stuff will certainly appear again serveral times
on the list.

Subject: [sdiy] reasons for Forum

Dear all,

maybe I should've explained my reasons for the forum...
It was NOT to split up synthdiy list but for two reasons,
1) Many people I know dont like the idea of receiving 50-70 emails a day
(currently SynthDIY seems to run around that) when probably 90% of them may
be of no interest.
2) Many people (like me) have two PCs, one at home and one at work, so
unless I subscribe at both places(stupid) I could miss some interesting
threads during weekends/bank holidays..

I was hoping it would be more of an enhancement, but never mind, I guess
I'll just continue to miss threads at weekends/bankholidays.
