[sdiy] Mag tape splicing tape Q

Sounds like I should use real splicing tape!

I did find a source on the web at www.tapecenter.com, for 1/2" tape. I'm
thinking that I'll need 1/2" rather than 1/4", and I can trim it to 3/8"
after splicing (being careful to keep the edges perfectly parallel and never
exceeding 3/8"). If I use 1/4" then there will be part of the splice left
uncovered, and I don't want to overlap 2 pieces since this would make a
buldge in the middle that might catch in the transport. If this were a
reel-to-reel situation I would be less concerned, but this thing has
small-radius bends and felt bars and storage-by-piling-up obstacles.

Maybe I should make a splicing jig out of wood?

I completley agree with the other responses...

Splicing tape is infinitely better than Scotch tape, packing tape or
duct tape.

I don't know if Radio Shack still carries it, but they used to. I'm
sure MarkerTek has it. (You can order a pro-quality demagnetizer at
the same time!)
