No, Nonono !!!
This way i have seen it in various cables and equipment.
But the idea behind using the Optocoupers is actually
that there shall ba NO electrical connection between the
MIDI devices, to avoid ground loops and the such.
OK, of course one needs a common ground, but not via
the MIDI cable.
