Yes.

Haven't followed the whole thread, but as it started with an ARP
sequencer clone: I think ARP often used 3086's even when they just needed
several (not necessarily matched) transistors. Maybe it was just cheaper
(certainly less work) to use a DIL chip than to use several discrete
transistors.
Sometimes they made use of the matching, of course. (Phaser for sure.)

Similar situation with the CD4007. Often just used to make a BiMOS opamp
from a Bipolar type.
