Not that it would make a decisive improvement on the sequencer BOM cost, but
Jameco has the CA3086 for $0.49, $0.45 for 10 and $0.39 for quantities of a 100
or more.  That means you could get a hundred of them for less than what you'd pay
for 8 of the NTE replacements at Mouser, which is where I'm assuming the $5.18
figure comes from.  

And just wondering....why does the NTE replacement come up at Mouser for a CA3086
search?  Is the CA3086 getting harder to come by?  Does anybody know?
