I just replaced the one in mine. And it is indeed a 3V Lithium inch long
one. Standard stuff...

I don't think there is any point in putting a coin cell holder in there.
I mean my old battery was over 20 years old and still working. I only
put a new one in there because I was doing lots of other stuff to the
thing.

Incidentally, have you seen how much power supply decoupling there isn't
in there? I think there may be three 100n and three 10uF tants on each
large digital board. I added a bit more to mine with COG axial ceramics
just in case :-)

Now I <just> need to add midi...
