[sdiy] TR606 CPU?

Speaking of 606's and the like. Ive just picked up a malfunctioning 606. All the voices play fine but the sequencer seems screwy. In pattern
play mode I get 4 lights (in postions 1, 5, 9, 13) cycling through 4 steps. In patt write mode, nothing happens except it carries on cycling
through as if still in play mode. Do you think its a dead CPU?  The clock seems to be running at the correct speed. Could it be a power
regulator problem, messing the constant voltage to the CPU?
