Maybe look into Haskore. (http://haskell.org/haskore also see 
haskell.org for more about haskell.)
A language embedded into the functional programming language Haskell.
It can also generate CSound score files, as well as MIDI.
I know learning a different programming paradigm is difficult at first, 
but I think its well worth the effort. (and broadens your knowledge 
about programming in general.)
There are tutorials on both haskell and haskore, also there is a lib 
based on haskore that helps with sequencing.
