sometimes. modular vco's are easy to listen to 'alone'. the metasonix is a
stand alone box. and my monopoly has 4 taps straight from the oscillators,
which can be very handy.
otherwise, i listen to them with the filter 100% open, no weird modulations
and the adsr at 0-100-100-0.

the cool thing about the '09 is its instability within a musical range. the
sound is always moving, but within range, it's not a total mess.

yeah, except i don't know if what works in one person's system, will work in
another one's. i make electro, italo, acid and that kind of thing. for that,
the 09 and the slightly more static syntecno teebee have the most fantastic
sawtooths. cuts in right with the 808 sounds. however, if you make trance,
it's probably useless for you.

the other thing i like about this vco is its 'directness'. if i compare it
to something like the waldorf pulse, a new analogue machine, compared to the
'09 it;'s almost like there's a blanket over the speaker. it's vaguer, more
indirect. hard to describe..
