Since Thomas Welsch has lots of other business to do for his living and
the demand of the PCBs was rather unexpectedly high it took quite a
while to get the second run out (which is about to be shipped these days).
The design has about 400 drillings and they all do it by hand - so go
figure.
The third guy in play - Mathias Maerker (www.acidcode.com) - helps with
doing the financial stuff (collecting money etc.) and is pretty much fed
up of being confronted with unpolite and upset youngsters which want
their money back and offending Mathias and his family while he's got
nothing but lots of extra work. To stop that ugly complaints he started
to pay back the money for some PCBs (which are allready in production!)
from his very own pocket.
What started as a real fun project within the Elektro-Kartell
(www.elektro-kartell.de) community ended up being a very unpleasant
situation for some of the contributors. Not nice.
Besides that the Simplesizer seems to offer a lot of fun.
It may happen that someone wants more functionality when familiar with
the box but since the design is meant as "simple" that's the nature of
the project.
Another gentleman (http://www.narcotx-art.de/) allready did some sound
demos with this synth - visit his site, listen and get your own impression.
Michael.
