I believe it would be a good deal WORSE, because the modulation is caused
by the non-linear current/voltage relationship of the diodes, and the closer it
gets to a square law, the better. But having said that, ANY non-linear 
relationship will give harmonics, for example the MS20 uses XOR logic, I think.
(I could be wrong about the MS20, I'm just remembering this).
