Thanks !
The "dirt" was not the green acid ususally leaking from batteries.
It was rather black colour, but the place it was found makes me think it was acid stuff....
It was just as close to the battery than to anything else.... strange...
Well, I understand a standard battery cannot be used as replacement,
what type of battery should I use that doesn't require any mod to the circuit ?
Is there such anyway ?
Thanks a lot !
The synth rocks by the way !

What color was this "dirt"? If it was green, yeah.
If this is a NiCd battery it's probably at the end of its life (assuming
this keyboard is as old as I suspect it is). You should replace it. No
sense taking chances because once a NiCd goes it can ruin the PC board in a
relatively short period of time.
It would be safer to put in an alkaline or lithium battery, which requires
some circuit modification. This has been discussed numerous times on this
list.
