Muarice Martenot had a patent that involved waggling
keys from side to side way back in the 1930s, and I've
played an Ondes Martonet with this feature (and I want
one!). The US patent number is 1914831 and is online
at www.uspto.com. Note: this is not the wire and ring
controller, which he patented a few years earlier.
BTW, the mention of positioning objects with LCs in
them as a controller reminds me of a similar idea
from another pioneer - see US patent 6150600 for
more details...
