Perhaps, because no one (including you) had bothered to change it yet? :)
As for synth innovation, I'm all for it. This includes almost anything. I
appreciate revisiting old (sometimes forgotten) designs for inspiration, as
well as trying to boldly go where absolutely no one has gone before.
Usually, a bit of both in the same instrument is a good idea. If we make
too many changes in an instrument, it's unlikely to be accepted by the
masses. However, someone like myself might love it. I suspect many others
on this list might feel the same way.
I think we need a national, no make that a global, holiday. Sort of a
"think outside the box" holiday, where unusual ideas and innovation are
encouraged, and rewarded. Gifted artists, designers, and engineers do this
sort of thinking all the time. We need to encourage it more in the larger
population.
