Thanks Michael.  I'll have a think about this a bit further. As I see it
the tradeoff is:

- lubricant reduces oxidization of the contacts, but helps bind dust to
the surface;

- leaving them clean reduces the stickiness for dust, but also leaves them
open to the atmosphere and subsequent oxidization.

Opinions especially welcome from those who service keyboards and so likely
to see keyboards with and without contact lubricant.
