I had read this very web page previously, and a few other similar pages at
various other sites. The microphone element modification technique
interested me, and I figured I would eventually try it for myself.

Has anyone on this list ever used a microphone modified in this manner? I
know this was intended for a measurement mic, but would it be something to
consider building for general recording use? That is, if a person were on a
tight budget and couldn't afford a good commercial condenser mic? 

I'd like to have a matched pair of condenser mics, but can't afford them.
I'm hoping that something like this might be a cheap, but usable substitute
for the time being. If anyone knows of something better, for similar money,
I'd love to know about it.
