[sdiy] solder wick?

I have used flux type AND no-clean solder wick...

both worked equally well... I favor the scent of the original
flux type so I will re-order that type.

I don't clean the flux... I just 'crack' it off the surface of
the PCB with a small screwdriver, awl, x-acto knife ... with care not
to gouge the surface of the board... then I buff the remains with
a toothbrush. This is effective on all but the MOST critical
circuits...

I have used good solder removal stations. Solder wick might be a cheaper approach for almost all needs. A few jobs really call for
desolder stations.

I'd like to hear reviews of the low end desolder guns myself...
