I think that's just the nature of TT plugs...they never caught on like 1/4"
jacks, so they're kinda pricy.
I'm a TT user myself, and in my experience, TT cables that run less than
about $12 apice are pretty crummy...$12 being about the price for a pair of
decent Switchcraft or Neutrik ends. I've tried the cheaper ones (usually
with molded plastic ends), and they're not worth the headache.
If you want bargains, try looking for good ones on Ebay (there's some there
now, looks like). If you want known-good ones, try Markertech, Full Compass
or Redco. If you find any sources of good ones for less than $12, please
report back!
