Hi. May be more complex than what people is pointing at, but there is good simple circuits with PCB
etc at:
http://atlas.csd.net/~rjwsoft/
Anyhow I think the most important is design the faceplates and controllers in a way that child can
understand, the sound processing paths, etc A well designed system is a powerful tool to stimulate
creativity.
For children that young any ultrasimple circuit should work and then the most important is
controllers (joystick, push buttons, force sensing resistors, LDRs, IR tx and rx pairs, inductive
controllers a la Theremin, etc
JC Le Duc, at GMEB, Bourges, France, has been designing synths for children ("GeMEBogosse") for many
years now, they are great, the best I have ever seen for this purpose, but there is no info anywhere
on the net. He designed the circuits and I do not think he will share much of it. But if you can get
any photo on the net... that could help you. I did some photographs while composing at the GMEB
years ago. They have to be developed, when I do, I will scan the photos. If film is still OK... =:)
If I recall something else, I'll post it. Synths for children/teaching music and sound is one of my
dreams/goals.
