Indeed.
I built my EPROM eraser from a plastic box, the tube driver circuit from
a fluorescent torch that cost me 4 ukp, and a UV tube sold as a spare
for rip-off commercial erasers (the most expensive part...).
It takes up to 6 EPROMs at a time, and blanks them in around 10 minutes.
