Here is a thought.
Why not wire the speakers to gold plated banana jacks in such a manner that
you can use some short banana patch cords to configure the speakers by
simply moving
the banana patch cords. I don't know if you typically connect from your head
to the cabinet with a phone jack but if so just wire the speaker cab phone
plug to the banana jacks as well so that you know which ones go to the phone
jacks and which go to the speakers. Voila you will have high reliability
connections and flexibility for the price of a few gold plated banana jacks
and plugs.
