I guess some of your friends just haven't been around long enough yet to
have developed a broad sense of musical history. That's something that
takes a bit of time. It also takes more than a passing interest in the
subject, which most people don't really have. One can only learn so many
things in life, and everyone has their own priorities and personal interests.
