I believe that comment applies to the fact that some Korg
synths had both volts/Hz and volts/octave inputs. In their
FAQ pages, they recommend using the volts/octave inputs and
going with the Original model for such units. For yours,
you are correct in that you will have to get the II model.

The Midijack is a neat little unit; you can't hardly build
one for less than their retail price. And they can be
scaled to drive synths with non-standard scaling. I was
going to get one for my EML 101 (1.2 volts/octave), but
in the end I decided I wanted more channels and features
and I went with a JKJ CV5 instead. (The JKJ can also be
user tuned for non-standard scaling, but if you are going to
order one for an EML, tell them when you order it. They
like to build EML-targeted units with a bit more drive capability.)

Not in the same price range, but can you get CV/gate out of
an Evolver? I've been looking at those anyway, and that would
be another good reason to buy one.
