[sdiy] darlington tranny question

Folks,

I know, this is stupid, but anyways:

Are there any technical reasons why I can't use two ordinary NPN trannies to
replace a darlington transistor? I need a replacement for a simple high
impendance buffer stage.

Sure, I can go to a shop and buy the real thing, but it's weekend, the shops
are closed, and I'm in prototype mood :)
