Field plates, hall elements and thermoelectric stacks (aka Peltier
elements, even though we'd be more interested in the reverse effect
which is named after Seebeck IIRC) and then mix in some piezoelectric
stuff. That should keep you busy for a while, when you are finally
getting bored go on with SAW filters and figure out a way to make them
voltage controlled, perhaps using electrorheological fluids. Bimetals
can be used in linear fashion rather than as switches (which is
achieved by mechanical pre-tension). Hydraulic amplifiers anyone?
If someone wants to pay my rent and feed me I can probably spent the
next 50 years just rediscovering things that have been forgotten or
trying to employ obscure effects that nobody cared to refine enough to
be useful yet.
