Stick with the PhD. I'm not employed in the electronics field, but in my
experience I've come across far more people who bemoan the fact that their
qualifications are not high enough, than I have those who wished they had
spent less time studying in order to get 'hands-on' experience. It may take
you a few more years to 'catch up' on the experience front, but if you quit
the PhD now you may regret doing so later, as it's unlikely you'll get
another shot at one.
