So far my early experiments with this:

have been good. Only disadvantage is that the background is white. It works
better on a white surface since the background isn't that opaque so you
might have to paint your surface. If you are going to use it on a full panel
with holes it seems to be better to punch holes in the material. I bought a
set of cheap punches from Harbor Freight and sharpend them by putting them
in a drill press and taking a file to them. You can put them over holes and
very, very, very carefully cut them with a sharp X-acto knife after they
have dried. I stress very carefully here. Don't take it to the edges either.
I've been leaving about .05" around the edge. The edges will peel if they
don't get sealed. Like always with this type of stuff a couple light coats
of clear coat or some sort of sealer is needed.
