Hi Neil,

You must love those Amtels! You recommended them for my other project as 
well! :-) I'll consider them... but what do you think about the BASIC Stamp 
2p 40-Pin Module? (http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=BS2P40-IC) 
(I need at least 20 I/O pins.)

I would almost rather go with a basic stamp, since if this module is 
intended to be programmed by your above-average music hacker, the tools look 
friendly and I know there are lots of resources out there.

However, thanks a ton for your input.  If other people agree with you, then 
that's the route I'll need to take.  It's a little painful to think that 
I'll need to do _another_ re-design, as it's quite possible that by the time 
I'm done, I'll have poured in so much money that I'll never be able to break 
even.  I suppose that's my fault for making such a fine and polished 
"prototype". :-(
