[sdiy] paia 2720 ---> 9-volt batteries?

I just got a 2720 envelope follower and found out it runs on +/-9V, which immediately led me to wonder if I could run it with a battery. Does anyone know if this works fine, if any mods are necessary, and what to do with the ground?

YESTERDAY WAS NEAT~~~! thank you Patchell for the waveshaper, o0o0o0o0! I got to play with a Modcan system for the first time too. Very fun meet. You guys are wizards. I hope something like that can happen again soon.
