I am just joining this thread late, but realized I have been sniffing
aorund for knobs too and maybe we can all save some money....my needs:
Quantity 100-300 depending on price
1/4 diameter shaft
Set screw (not push on/not half round shaft/etc etc)
Knob itself should be no more than about 1/2" to 3/4 inch in diameter as I
am packing them close together
Needs pointer of some kind
Something "retro looking" and not too tall.
Something not ugly. They are going on a brushed aluminum panel.
If anyone is pooling together #'s for an order, so we get a better
discount, can I get counted in? I will pay for whatever my share is plus
postage to US or whatever.
I have asked Davies for samples and quotes on some of their knobs, like
this one:
http://www.daviesmolding.com/cgi-bin/part_ser.pl?page=instrument&series=1140&photo=instrument&back=pointer&next=flutedinst
But I don't suspect the pricing will be that good since allied sells 100
of these for abouy $1.30 each. But who knows. I was a professional
purchasing agent in a previous life, and, in my experience, if you can get
many distributors all bidding on the same (relatively large + cash) order,
at least one will drop trousers below the ankles. But you probably
already know this.
You can email me on or off this group. Thanks in advance.
