Hi Thomas/everyone,
I found the same problem some months back. Barry's book I quite like, along
with its companion 'Electronic Music IC Databook', also very useful, and
full of insights once you are 'up and running'.
Does anyone have a copy of/opinion on 'Electronic Music Circuits: The
Reprints' by Thomas Henry? (http://www.midwest-analog.com/cat-book.html).
I also recall reading in the Yahoo EFM group ('Electronics For Music') that
Tom Gamble may be in the process of writing a book, but who knows when it is
likely to appear - anyone else know anymore on this?

...which for my money is its biggest 'minus point' (that, and the way things
are indexed - that really useful tip will probably be in there somewhere,
but just where to find it...). That said, I do find it useful.
