    Actually, I had never thought about that concerning 331, however, I have
never noticed any ill affects on the tip from 331.  I have on ocasion used Zinc
Cloride flux with an old tip (acid flux).  Now, this really does a number on the
tip.  When I am done using the ZnCL for the day, the tip is toast and needs to
be replaced.

    What you can also do is as soon as the iron cools down a bit, just wipe it
with the sponge and that should clean of any remaining 331...if you ar
concerned.
