This is the sensor Moog Music is using.

It is a pressure sensitive fiber optic technology.

The crossing fiber optics only have so much resolution. Intermediate values
are calculated by interpolating using a computer.

I looked at it when first announced, but the need for a microprocessor put
it out of reach.
