Some valve amp players do misbalance the tubes. I should think there is
quite a bit on this on the various tube sites. The later silverface
Fender's even give you a pot to do this, although this isn't the
intention of the pot of course. Worrying though if you are deliberately
pushing 80mA through one and 20mA though the other.

[On a side note, I just had a 1973 Carlsbro CT60 (Fender style copy)
with a steady 90mA through each of its EL34. No bias trim on these amps
but I took it down a wee bit anyway to 30mA!]

I have always bought my tubes matched and tend to leave any balancing
act to the tube suppliers. Bias I set globally on all the output tubes.
But what do I know... I play synths and like the sound of the DX-7
acoustic guitar patch :-)
