Ugh. SiO2 thermal conductivity is very poor compared to Si. Of course if 
the isolation layer is very thin it might be possible to get uniform 
temperatures, but I'd want to see some careful testing before adopting chip 
heating in this situation.  Thanks for the info on the isolation process.
