Hi Glen,
If you decide on a kit based solution, the PAiA midi2cv8 module may do what you require. If you
look at PAiA's site under "9700 FAQ" there is a small section about using the unit to control relays
and motors. Quote:
"The Ring terminal of a midi2cv8 is connected to the collector of a transistor that is turned on
when the CV output is greater than a volt or so. This transistor can be used to control a variety of
electrical loads such as relays and small motors".
I think the Midwest Analog Midigator will also do something similar.
