Stay away from TTL for synth work. It's totally obsolete, noisy, and
power hungry! Use basic CMOS for 15V power. Use 74C or 74HC for 5V power
supplies. The HC is faster and has more output drive if you need it, but
you'll need regulated +5V.
There are a confusing array of other logic families out there but you
won't need them.
