I assume the DIP is 8-pin.
How about a little piece of 8 strip wide stripboard. Solder in the DIP, break the 4 tracks in the middle of the DIP, connect the far side 4 pins via jumper wires to the 4 end strips, solder in 8 little header pins along the near side edge. Bob's your uncle?
