I think the instructions with my PAiA hot springs recommended a rubber band
across the spring to one's liking.  However, application of voltage control
to the rubber band has me stumped. :)

I had pretty good luck damping Accutronics springs.  I just snipped tiny
wedges of light foam rubber and put them between the coils.  Since the
coils operate in torsion, the damping can be fairly easily controlled.
