[sdiy] dial graduations

unfortunately, I don't have illustrator. besides Photoshop I also have
Freehand but even this has no useful tools for this. I find it hard to
imagine that these sophisticated and expensive programs don't have a
protractor. in freehand I can constrain the rotate tool but it's finest
resolution is 45 degrees. to get other angles I have to set an offset value
to the constrain angle. this is just plain idiotic.
I have actually saved drawings of the Mercury-2 spacecraft's control panel
and copied some dials into photoshop. using the shape tools I can trace the
graduations onto another layer and use that layer for my pattern. this still
isn't as quick as I'd like it to be but the results are quite acceptable.
please do send me more suggestions though. I appreciate them all!
